ART PHILOSOPHY: Decorative Cake Plate

Hello Everyone!

Okay... so... I have been a follower of BAKERELLA for over a year.  Love love love her blog and her style of writing.  I love to bake and could never aspire to bake like she does... haven't really had the time to bake like she does.  But, since moving to California, my entire daily schedule has changed.  So, when I had some extra time on my hands this week, I made 'cake balls'!  Yummmmmmyyyy!

I started with chocolate cake....

Crumble it all up and mix a can of cream cheese frosting... roll into bite size balls.

Then I dipped them into white frosting.  Hmmmm... while they were quite tasty, my first attempt didn't quite look like the wonderful treats that Bakerella shows on her blog. :-(

So, I decided to give it another try.  This time I used strawberry cake... double yummmyy!

This time I melted white chocolate into mini cupcake liners and put a strawberry cake ball into each one.

This was tricky, finger-licking work...

After putting them into the fridge to set, I then dipped each one into melted milk chocolate and put a red M&M on top for the cherry!  I peeled the white papers off so that the melted white chocolate now looks like the cupcake liner.

So... are you wondering what all this has to do with ART PHILOSOPHY?  Well... below is my pretty white (and plain) cake plate.  I like to decorate it sometimes to dress it up and these little cuties deserve a cute plate to sit on! LOL!

I used ART PHILOSOPHY cricut cartridge... it has everything!  There are shapes and borders galore, so I cut the flower out at 8" and the border is 2"x11.5"

TA-DA!  Isn't that cute?  I used my ATG gun to stick the border around the plate edge.  It's great because it is easy to remove later.

My little cake ball cupcakes looked great on the decorated cake plate!

What a simple project!!  So easy and yet so cute!  If you haven't gotten your copy of the ART PHILOSOPHY cartridge yet, go to MELANIE'S CLOSE TO MY HEART website to order.  It's awesome.

Creatively yours,

Tammy

What a great way to dress up your cake plate. Your cake balls look quite tasty but on your decorated plate the presetation goes to a whole new level.

Okay Tammy I just gained 10lbs drooling over your latest creations. These look yummie and I like your decorated plate. I always do this very same thing. I love to bake, mostly cheese cakes, and they just look so pretty on cricut cut doilies. However, no baking for a while, Warren and I are trying to loose weight!!!! Hope you are enjoying some breathing room and of course Labor Day.

You did a great job! I've made cake balls a couple of time, and they aren't as easy as you would think. I love the seconde way with the white chocolate bottom. Can't wait to try that!

Great idea for the plate. I have never made cake balls but I have made Oreo balls, they are the best. You should give those a try too if you haven't.
