ART PHILOSOPHY: Another Decorative Cake Plate

Hello Everyone!

Another busy week this week!  I am now at my daughter and her husband's place in El Paso!  I drove from Northern California yesterday so that I could attend a special "Deployment Ceremony for my son-in-law.  He and the entire Bulldog Brigade is being shipped to Afghanistan in two weeks. :-(  There was a very serious deployment ceremony here at Fort Bliss... I think it was called, "Casing the Flag".  Each platoon in the brigade presented their platoon flags to be rolled up and placed into a canvas casing for travel to Afghanistan.  The Army band was there and all the families of these courageous & hard working soldiers

I love these two!  Please keep both of them in your prayers... this next year is going to be hard for both of them.

I wanted to make a special treat for Cris and all the family that came for this event.  Can you guess what I made?  Lol!  Yep... CAKE POPS!  I'm having so much fun with them!  If you don't know what I'm talking about or you want to learn how to make them yourself... go to BAKERELLA... she is awesome!

Remember this?

My plain white cakeplate... can be transformed with just a little bit of patterned paper and the new ART PHILOSOPHY Cricut cartridge from CLOSE TO MY HEART!  You can still get this cartridge if you hurry and go to my good friend, Melanie's  COURTNEY LANE DESIGNS

I seriously LOVE the borders and images on this cartridge!  Who needs those temperamental punches anymore?!  This was done with one piece of 12"x12" paper... cost me $.50!  Of course, it's a one-time-use type of project, but I just love how it looks!  Now look at it with the goodies on it!

Yep... that is a tag from the totally awesome 'tag' section of ART PHILOSOPHY!  I added some embellishment using my inks, ribbon and my favorite stamp company ever... MY PINK STAMPER!!!

Both the SUPPORT OUR TROOPS and the YOU'RE MY HERO stamps are from MPS.

Well... I've gotta go now... I don't want to miss out on this precious family time this weekend.  Besides, I need my beauty sleep because my son-in-law promised to take me to a fleamarket tomorrow morning!!  FUN!!

Creatively yours,

Tammy Skinner

Your cake stand and cake pops look amazing! I just love Bakeralla, she is so amazing as well! Please thank you SIL for his service to our country. I will keep your DD and SIL in my thought and prayers. My DS is going on his 5th deployment and it has always been hard on my DIL, but especially so now that they have children. DS has been deployed for most of their married life, he had to leave right after they were married! So my heart goes out to your DD. Sometimes we forget about the sacrifices that are being made back home, the families make huge sacrifices too. Enjoy that flea market!!!

What a mother and mother-in-law you are, Tammy....wonderful!!! Thank you for sharing your project and my heart goes out to all families that have service members who have deployment after deployment. My husband did 2 tours of duty in Viet Nam and I know what a toll that took. Prayers that we can bring all our service people home soon safe and sound.
