Just wanted to give a big HUG to everyone for all of your patience with the new GYPSY PROMO Update!! It is up and ready! But there are a few changes to it and it is NOT like the normal gypsy updates that we have all become so familiar with. So, I tried to break it down for you in 5 easy steps...
STEP 1 - Uninstall the Gypsy Sync Software from your computer. Looks like we will no longer be updating our gypsies using the Gypsy Sync software, so you will need to uninstall it.
STEP 2 - Downloading the CRICUT SYNC Software. I wasn't able to show this on camera, but I had to update my 'Adobe Air' before it would download the software.
STEP 3 - Installing the CRICUT SYNC Software and starting the Update. There will be a FIRMWARE and CONTENT update. After the firmware has been updated your gypsy will automatically turn off and you will be prompted from your computer to turn the gypsy back on to continue.
STEP 4 - Patience with the UPDATE!! Still updating...
STEP 5 - Finishing the update, New Files Screen... Update is SUCCESSFUL! Wahoo! I now have all the free cartridges including SMILEY CARDS

For once i think it was great being in another country as i had no problems at all updating and installing the new programmes. You guys must have all been asleep. How wonderful is Provo Craft to give us these new carts.

I updated my gypsy and I didn't have it plugged in the AC so while it was updating I think it shut off. I got some kind of message that some bridge thing couldn't find the device. Anyway the Gypsy then turned back on and everything is there. Even smiley cards. Should I be concerned that the update was not complete. I have all 6 free carts.

I have a question, it has been a while since I updated my Gypsy. Should I run the Gypsy Sync on it first before I uninstall and run the Cricut Sync or will running the Cricut Sync get me up to speed?
I've tried this three times now. It's still not working. I'm thankful for the free carts....but starting to get a little frustrated.

I have a MAC too so the uploads are not yet working. When will the new Cricut sync be ready for us MAC users?
I finally got my update last night about 10:30. Woohoo! I am so excited to play with my new cartridges! Thanks Provo Craft! And thank you Tammy for giving the heads up and encouraging patience yesterday.
Updated mine last night with no problems, thank goodness. I was a little worried because so many people had problems. thanks.

Thanks! I'm trying to gather the courage to try this today...I just registered my new Gypsy on Sat so I have NO experience with this at all. It sure seems like the CDS updates are MUCH easier!! I'll be sure to keep your blog up while I attempt this...wish me luck!!

Thanks Tammy I updated mine yesterday took three tries before it took. tried to cut images and all worked fine except for the smiley card. Won't cut getting a "security breach" messege code 3

perhaps if I have read this post before I updated.... it took me 2 hrs and my gypsy died (therefore starting it again..) and then 3 hrs before I finally finished downloaded everything.. I love the smile cartridge and blackletter. I didn't have these. :) yah!!!

wow! you went to alot of effort producing 5 videos to help your subscribers. it's always easier to watch someone, then do it yourself.
I watched the video on how to install the gypsy downloads. I have a mac computer and have not been able to get my newest updates and I'm so darn sad. I can't wait to get started with the newest cartridge downloads.
Tammy, I followed ur instructions and it all worked except I didnt get the smiley cards cartridge???? I got all the other new ones but not that one. It's not even showing up in the main list of all the cartridges. Do u know what I should do?
I had no problem with downloading carts. My issue is my old tired eyes struggle seeing on the small gypsy screen,(zooming is a pain) I would be lost without my handbooks. Any word if those will be available?

Tammi, I too want to know about the mac update. What is the word on the street? Any chance you know someone who can make it happen? I am pouting because I want to play with all these carts RIGHT NOW! Oh well, when the update comes I will be ready.

Thank you so much for this post! I had read that a lot of people had issues with their update and I followed this post to make my update today and it worked perfectly! I had my updates in no time at all - it was a breeze! This site has been such an excellent resource since I've gotten my gypsy only a week and a half ago!
Thank you for the update - I too am a MAC user and purchased my gypsy for the several FREE cartridges and the fact that there is not Cricut Studio for MACS, but now I am very frustrated that I can't get this to work either. Not much support from PC on the topic right now either.
